Vulpix (Rokon in Japanese) is a fire-type Pokémon, here featured on the starboard side of the aircraft (yellow). It has an Ice-type Alolan that is depicted on the port side (light blue). Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix were chosen to promote Hokkaido Island, with the inaugural service between Sapporo and Haneda taking place on December 1, 2021. The asymetrical design is also duplicated in the cabin with Alolan Vulpix headrest covers on the left seats and Vulpix headrest covers on the right seats; the central seat has covers with both Pokémons. The livery is expected to stay around for 5 years.
These additional decals showed the airline's support for the tourism campaign aiming at increasing the number of visitors to the island after the 2018 earthquake. Hokkaido PR mascot Kyunchan could be seen next to the title; it is basically a rabbit with a deer cap, both animals being symbols of wildlife in Hokkaido. Decals on the port side only.
The design of this third Bear Do Jet was based on Hokkaido's four seasons. The front part of the plane was painted with spring flowers blooming all at once. Summer prairie was featured on the part on top of the wings while automn colours and animals preparing for winter could be seen farther backwards. Winter with snowy landscape and blue tones completed the scheme.
The first "Bear Do" jet, featuring the airline's mascot in clouds, was unveiled in April 2009 after the Hokkaido airline celebrated 10 years. The cute bear emerged of the "Air travel with Bear Do" campaign.
In December 2003 the Shiroi Koibito cookie of confectionery maker Ishiya replaced the various decals on JA98AD. Shiroi Koibito literally means "white lover" and is a European-style cookie made of chocolate sandwiched between two langue de chat/cat tongue biscuits.
The second aircraft of Air Do had its full special scheme unveiled on August 22, 2001, with large decals promoting Hokkaido as a touristic destination.
The second aircraft of Air Do received what seem like temporary decals on the port side only before getting the large Hokkaido landscape images in August 2001 (see separately). The decals promoted Hokkaido as a touristic destination in partnership with internet web portal Jalan.
Special decals were added on this aircraft in December 1999 just after the airline's first anniversary. Besides Hokkaido tourism campaign (see separately), the logo of 4 sponsors was added above the window line. The decals were amended rather frequently with brands chasing other ones; however Japanese snack food maker Calbee, the Shiroi Koibito cookie of confectionery maker Ishiya and telecom provider DoCoMo remained visible in a way or another until the cookie took most of the room in December 2003 (see separately).
Other decals included "Kirara 397" and "Hoshimo Yune", two varieties of rice produced in Hokkaido and developped by local agriculture authorities (worn until 2000). Other decals also promoted Jalan, an internet news portal, the Sapporo Dome stadium and SSAWS Skidome, an indoor ski slope in Funabashi (Chiba).
Air Do quickly concluded an agreement with the Hokkaido tourism board, as a new domestic carrier trying to take advantage of the deregulated market. Note JA98AD was the only aircraft to wear the additional small titles; they were removed after just a few months. JA98AD also sported additional sponsor decals (see separately).
